Dear Friends,
Christian greetings! Here is an update on some of our recent COHEU events. DENMARK: COHEUworked with a team from Calvary Church, Naperville, IL in the CopenhagenCultural Center. Severe damage had occurred in the lower part of the buildingduring a city-wide flood the previous summer. The cultural center houses a hugechurch, a school, a major radio station and a television studio as well as activities geared towards reaching the Muslim community. The insurance failed to pay due to a technicality and they have been fundraising for repairs for ayear. Over 40 of us worked 10 hours a day for 10 days to restore much of thedestruction. N. IRELAND: For the fourth year in a row, COHEU held events in the infamous city of Derry, N.Ireland, partnered with teams from Nebraska and California. Tens of thousands of people were reached in multiple events, including the building of a newplayground in a deprived part of the city. Leaders of all faiths came out for this dedication and, for the first time, many of them came to our host church, Cornerstone, that Sunday morning. Derry is a segregated city and Protestants and Catholics traditionally do not cross this divide. However, in an historic decision, leaders from the Catholic area have asked Cornerstone Church to hold prayer meetings in their communities. For Ireland, this is unbelievable. BULGARIA: A team of 30 from Glad Tidings Assembly, St. Petersburg, Florida and New Hope Assembly Three Rivers, Three Rivers, Michigan joined us in the small town of Lovech, Bulgaria. We spent 5 days laboring in 100 degree heat to renovate the center which holds the church as well as facilities for other community needs. In addition to installing plumbing, walls, flooring and a suspended ceiling, the team also visited two orphanages bringing gifts. ROMANIA: We initiated a new Adopt-a-Community project in Dicanesti, Romania this summer. Teams from two churches in New Jersey-Bethany Church and Calvary Lighthouse-have jointly sponsored this community and came together for the first trip. We worked in a Roma neighborhood providing concrete sidewalks, walkways and floors in and around the houses. We also laid the foundation for a small community center which will be used for tutoring, homework aid and some adult education. A COHEU representative will return in September to deliver free water filters around the Roma households with instruction on maintenance and hygiene. Several of the local community accepted the Lord as a result of this event. |
PORTUGAL: A team from Tri-County Assembly, Fairfield, Ohio came to Lisbon, Portugal to work in two impoverished areas. The first couple days were spent in a gypsy community interacting with the children and renovating community center constructing walls, painting and clearing refuse. The center will be used for tutoring, language instruction and a feeding program. The rest of the week was spent in a refugee community aiding the local church with extensive cleaning and social ministry. On Saturday, we held a Festival of Hope event there with children’s activities, health checks, food distribution and a presentation of the Gospel. REPUBLIC OF IRELAND: Two churches, Lifechurch, Germantown, WI and Liverpool One Church, Liverpool, England, worked together in three locations Dublin, Clondalkin, Drimnagh. Hosted by Pastor Noel Kenny of Liberty Church, Dublin, Ireland, the teams worked throughout the week hosting children’s events and renovating a community center which will service the community in many ways including serving breakfast to kids on their way to school. On Saturday, over 1000 people showed up for free food, prayer tents, a big play area for kids, pampering for women and even a karaoke tent. There was also a huge back-to-school giveaway where backpacks and school supplies were handed out. Several people showed up at church on Sunday morning and many accepted the Lord. SCOTLAND: Convoy of Hope Europe sponsored the first ever event in Easterhouse, Scotland near Glasgow on Saturday,August 11, 2012. Well over 1000 people attended numerous events geared towards children plus a back–to-school giveaway, where nearly 400 school bags were given out. As well as face-painting, bouncy castles, games and live music, patrons enjoyed the 500 burgers and hotdogs on an unusually sunny Scottish day. They also handed out 100 food parcels and three local charities shared the proceeds from the day. Regards, Michael McNamee |

Newsletter Update from Abby Johnson
Founder and President of And Then There Were None. "The days following ATTWN's first webcast were very busy! FIVE former and current abortion clinic workers have contacted us, wanting out of the abortion industry, needing help securing new jobs, or asking for support in taking legal action against their former employers. Thanks to generous pro-life supporters like you, we have the ability to help them. Here are some stories about these clinic workers. (To protect their privacy, their names have been changed). 'Claire' found ATTWN after getting word of the ministry from a sidewalk counselor who had reached out to her. She is a single mother doing everything she could to secure a new job just to pay her bills- even applying for a job at Burger King. Because she had worked at a health center that performed abortions, potential new employers are very hesitant to hire her. Claire worked at the abortion clinic for eight months before she 'couldn't take it anymore,' and got sick of seeing body parts of the aborted babies. The clinic contacts Claire several times a month, asking her to come back to work, and even offering her more money to return... but she is staying strong! She was on the brink of evacuation from her home, but ATTWN was able to help her keep her water and electricity running while helping her search for a new job. 'Amy' is a single mother of four children who worked in the abortion industry for four years. In the beginning, she did office work. But, as time went on, she was asked to assist in the procedures, which included a bonus for every abortion performed. Amy reached out to another pro-life group who was able to refer her to ATTWN. Her biggest worry after leaving the abortion industry is being able to care for her four children and fears what the legal implications for her would be if she came forward with information about illegal activity in her clinic. Since ATTWN is able to provide legal assistance to former workers, she will be able to protect her family if she wants to come forward with the information. 'Mallory' is a single mother of seven who worked in the abortion industry for seventeen years before she quit. Although she has another part-time job, she struggles to pay her bills and pay for food while simultaneously supporting her children in college. Along with Mallory is eager to bring to light the illegal activity that was rampant in the abortion clinic where she worked: sexual harassment from the doctor, patient abuses, and financial fraud. With the legal protection that ATTWN provides, Mallory will be able to feel secure in exposing the illegal activity in the abortion clinic where she once worked. Because of pro-life supporters like you, And Then There Were None will be able to continue reaching out to and converting abortion clinic workers. Thank you! Sincerely, Abby Johnson ATTWN Founder and President" |
